William Dunlop Sets New Lap Record

On Saturday evening the Metzeler Post-TT races at Billown at Castletown in the south of the Isle of Man took place.

27-year-old William Dunlop from Ballymoney County Antrim took part in the three race meeting and ending up with the win and a new lap record in the Supersport race.

Dunlop aboard his Milwaukee/CD racing Yamaha R6 took the win by over 24.414 seconds ahead of fellow County Antrim rider from Ballyclare Jamie Hamilton on his KMR Kawasaki. Third place went to Jamie Coward on a Yamaha and fourth to another Honda rider Ian Lougher who announced his retirement earlier at the TT races who’s Career spans over 31 Years of racing. Fifth place when to Robert Wilson and Dungannon rider Paul Cranston got sixth.

In the Supertwin race Bradford’s Dean Harrison took the honors beating Ballyclares Jamie Hamilton by over 5 seconds and setting a new track record of 101.803 mph. Third place went to Ivan Lintin. Fourth were James Cowton, fifth local rider Chris Palmer and sixth Callum Collister.

Local Rider Chris Palmer took the win in the 125/400cc race ahead of Callum Collister and Mark Goodings.
