Michael Dunlop on his winning ways

Dunlop Triumphs At Tandragee 100

The 53rd Around a Pound Tandragee 100 road race meeting in Co. Armagh took place on Saturday 4th May. Friday practice was a wet cold and breezy evening, which meant weather conditions were not advantageous for the competitors to gain higher speeds for their grid places for the Saturday race.

County Antrim rider Michael Dunlop was a late entry; he hadn’t planned to attend this meeting but changed his mind at the last minute and arrived late for Friday’s practice. The 24-year-old with a lean and fitter new look was there again to make his mark.

Dunlop on his Superbike scored a double as he went out on the first Open race and pulled away to a 26 second victory. He then continued in the feature Tangragee 100 race to repeat what he had set out and done earlier in the day.

William Dunlop aboard the 250cc Honda

Ballymoney rider William Dunlop competing only on his two stroke machines won the 250cc race. Sam Wilson from Ballymena was first home in the 125cc class. KMR Vauxhall rider Jamie Hamilton took the honours in the Supertwin class. County Louth’s Wayne Kirwin aboard his Crossan’s Yamaha in the Supersport class beat Lisburn’s Michael Pearson on his BMW by 0.003 seconds.
