Dunlop Brothers Share Podium In Supersport Race 

The Monster Energy Supersport race got off to a flying start as planned. The weather was over cast dull and dry conditions

On the opening lap William Dunlop on his Milwaukie 600cc Yamaha took an early lead at Glen Helen, while younger brother Michael was second and Kiwi Bruce Anstey laying third.

William and James Hillier then went through the speed trap at Sulby the fastest, gaining a speed of 173.9 mph but by the time they had arrived at Ramsey 24 year old Michael Dunlop on his Honda had opened up a lead of 1.4 seconds. This then all had changed as he finished his first lap by increasing his lead to 4.1 seconds. Anstey now in second place gained the fasted lap of 162.1mph leaving older brother William now in third. Local man Conor Cummins had to retire on the first lap with bike trouble.

On lap two Michael Dunlop still pulled away and increased his lead by10 seconds setting the fastest lap of 127.52 mph just short of his old record he set in 2010.

On the fourth and final lap Gary Johnston retired at Quarter Bridge on his MV Augusta, at Glen Helen Michael Dunlop was now leading on the road, also keeping that steady 10 second gap ahead of Bruce Anstey while John McGuinness was only 4 seconds down on third place man William Dunlop.

But the day Belonged to the Dunlop Brothers Michael taking first, Bruce Anstey secured second and William a well-fought third place.

Michael Stated after the race "The bike was mint, although I struggled to get going in the first couple of miles, I wanted to come out and stamp my authority on the race and then I cruised home in the last two laps."

McGuinness was fourth to ensure that Hondas occupied the top four places, with Kawasaki man James Hiller fifth and Suzuki star Guy Martin sixth.

Michael Dunlop now has his fifth TT victory, equaling the total of his father Robert, and the first time the brothers have shared a TT rostrum.
